Why we built a film production company in Kigali

Most of the attention on African creative industries goes to a handful of larger markets. Rwanda rarely makes that list — and yet the raw storytelling talent here is not the constraint. Access to the right training, equipment and production discipline is.

When our founder came back from studying film production, the gap wasn't ambition. Writers, musicians and visual artists in Kigali had stories worth telling. What was missing was a production partner who could take those stories from concept to a finished, professional piece of work.

That is why Maximum Pixels was founded in Nyarugenge District, Kigali, in 2018 — and why every year since has reinforced the same thesis. We're not trying to be a marketplace connecting freelancers. We're building a team with state-of-the-art equipment and genuine craft, based here, serving stories that start here.

The numbers move when you stay disciplined about it: 100+ projects completed, 50+ clients served, 15+ awards, across fiction film, documentary, music video, commercial, photography and animation work.
