How can a moment last forever? The question behind Maximum Pixels

Every company has an origin story. Ours started with a question, not a business plan: how can a moment last forever? And how can a story never die?

Our founder, Muhire Elisé, started asking that question after losing his father — and realising how few visual memories remained of him. Reflecting on the moments they had shared together made one thing clear: the moments that matter most are the easiest to lose, unless someone deliberately preserves them.

That question found an unexpected answer earlier in his music career, when he grew frustrated that the music videos made for him never matched the creative vision he had in mind. Rather than accept the gap between vision and delivery, he enrolled in a Film Production course — not only to sharpen his own craft, but to help other artists facing the same struggle.

Recognising a wider gap in Rwanda's filmmaking industry, he set out to build something bigger than himself: a company that opens doors for storytellers of every kind — writers, editors and anyone who wants to preserve their moments and pass them down from generation to generation.

That vision became Maximum Pixels. Six years and a hundred-plus projects later, the question hasn't changed. Every fiction film, documentary, music video, commercial, photograph and animation we produce is still an attempt to answer it: how do you make a moment last forever?
